The world of anime is quite surprising with its content, especially when you expect the least out of it. ‘I Parry Everything’ also belongs to that category of anime, where you expect something from it, but it turns out the exact opposite of it. The name, the front cover, gives off an Isekai anime vibe, and you could ignore it, thinking of the same plot with an overpowered main character navigating their life into a different world, but nope! It parries your assumption with its plot and is quite a fascinating but naive main character.
The Journey of Anime

‘I Parry Everything’ or “Ore wa Subete wo Parry suru: Gyaku Kanchigai no Sekai Saikyou wa Boukensha ni Naritai,” is a Japanese web novel series by Nabeshiki, with art & illustration by Kawaguchi. Just like its main character Noor, the novel has quite a journey from being a light novel to Manga and to finally an anime adaptation by OLM studio in 2024 under the direction of Dai Fukuyama.
The Story
In the Kingdom of Clay, one can become an adventurer with certain special skills. The little boy Noor, living in a forest, far away from the kingdom, decides to become a great adventurer just like his dad and help people around with his abilities. However, upon reaching the kingdom, the boy learned that he didn’t have the skill set to become an adventurer despite being trained under skilled mentors. Disheartened, after 3 months of training, he goes back to the forest and decides to take matters into his own hands. He decided to train with whatever he learned during his 3 months of training with the hope of at least becoming helpful to the people.
Fast-forward to the future, the boy now a man, revisits the kingdom, only to be enrolled as an F-Rank adventurer- the lowest rank anyone could have, with no hunt quest, only taking odd jobs in the city. Anyone would feel disheartened, as F-rank is like a consolation prize, but not for our over-optimistic main character Noor!

Doing odd jobs in the city, helping people around and living life as an adventurer (F-rank), sums up Noor’s happy life until he saves Princess Lynneburg Clay’s assassination attempt by defeating a minotaur with a log sword! For the people of kingdoms, the Minotaur was a catastrophic level threat, but to clueless Noor — it was just a giant- cow, and he was happy that he didn’t encounter the giant that the people were talking about.

From this point onward, Noor and Lynn begin their journey to hunt other monsters and also to thwart the evil plot of the neighboring country which is plotting the Kingdom’s downfall, with a lot of funny and awkward wins.
The protagonist
Noor is different from other protagonists in this genre; he is unaware of his mighty power and exceptional parry skills. He’s passionate about being an adventurer, and he trained himself hard enough to defy the threshold of skill level. Even his mentors foreshadow his future – a quite exceptional boy with skill and abilities far beyond the title of adventurer.
He is a humble person but comes out as a dork sometimes. Be it destiny, luck or whatever we can call it – Noor is a protagonist, who comes off as quite naive when it comes to acknowledging his power, but stands smart and sharp when assessing and acknowledging others. Nevertheless, his selfless helping nature sure makes him a man with a golden heart!
The Theme, Visuals and OSTs
The anime plot is fun to watch with lots of goofy characters. The MC is a bit dense and feels too over-enthusiastic, which sometimes feels a bit off, and he comes off like an idiot, and the only thing that saves him is his mighty luck. The animation feels good with no notable flaws. The visuals are good and fit nicely with the theme of the royalty-style anime. The character design and costumes are quite notable depicting hierarchy within characters. The OSTs are the real charm of the anime – the opening song “AMBITION” by Maika Sakuragi and the ending song “NO GIFTED” by Utahime Dream All Stars, add the feels and spirit of our characters

In the end
‘I Parry Everything’ is a fun anime and quite refreshing as it has the vibe of isekai without too much brainy stuff. Its quirky story reminds me of ‘Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill’, minus cooking. The 1st episode feel a bit slow at start but it soon come on track on his comic timing. If you want to watch something with isekai vibe without a dense plot, this might be just right for you.
There’s no official announcement for a second season yet, but fans had speculated it would be around April 2025. As of now, there’s no confirmation of 2nd season.
